Deepwater Horizon Explosion Is BP’s Second Slaughter of Americans

How Many More Will We Allow? On March 23rd, 2005, 15 workers were killed and 170 others injured during a series of explosions at BP’s Texas City Refinery. It is so ironic that, on the 5-year anniversary of that explosion, less than 30 days before the Deepwater Horizon Incident, the following statement was issued by John Bresland, Chairman of the U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB): Five years ago today, at about 1:20 p.m., a series of explosions rocked the BP Texas City refinery during the restart of a hydrocarbon isomerization unit.
