CDC Monitors Health Effects Of Oil Spill
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is monitoring potential health threats and health conditions arising from the Gulf oil spill. Currently, CDC has sent 11 of their staff to the Gulf Coast to monitor human health conditions across the five states impacted by the oil spill. In a coordinated effort with state and local health agencies, the CDC is conducting surveillance to track how the oil spill is affecting the health of residents living along the Gulf coast. As the oil slowly moves to the east, more and more of the coastal population are exposed to potential health risks from the oil spill.
